.Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer.... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.

 Tomato paste boil cure.... Cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.

Balm for broken blisters.....to disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine.... a powerful antiseptic.

Heinz vinegar to heal bruises... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

Kills fleas instantly. Dawn dishwashing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas.

Rainy day cure for dog odor.... Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.

Vaseline cure for hairballs: To prevent troublesome hairballs, apply a dollop of Vaseline petroleum jelly to your cat's nose. The cat will lick off the jelly, lubricating any hair in its stomach so it can pass easily through the digestive system.

Remove old polish & dirt on furniture - Tannic acid in tea works. Use 2 teabags with a quart of water  boil. Cool to room temperature. Wring cloth to damp and wipe. Buff dry. (Good for wood floors)

Polish jewelry  drop 2 Alka-Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for 2 minutes.

Clean a vase  to remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase, fill with water and drop in 2 Alka-Seltzer tablets.

 

Spray your plastic ware with non-stick cooking spray before pouring in tomato based sauces and there wont be any stains.

Listerine therapy for toenail fungus.... Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

Easy eyeglass protection.... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of  Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.

Non-stick cooking spray  That bicycle chain sticking? Spray it with a little non-stick cooking spray.

 

 

    Makeup Tips 

Add a little moisturizer to your foundation to and it will glide on smoothly.

Instead of using tissue to blot lipstick, use coffee filters. The result: no fuzz on your lips

To repair a broken lipstick, place the 2 ends together gently but firmly, then cap the lipstick & put it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes

For a more lasting look, apply a lighter shade or even white eyeshadow over your eyelids before applying the actual color you intend to wear.

 

For a quick, tousled look the next day, wash hair the night before and put it up in a messy bun. In the morning, take it down and finger comb.

Make sure your hair color lightens or brightens, rather than darken as we get older

To remove gum from clothing  place item in freezer for an hour or so. This hardens the gum enough to allow you to dislodge it. Any residue will flee the scene by soaking the area in white vinegar overnight.

A stain on a long sleeve shirt. . . can become no stain on a short-sleeved shirt, simply cover stain with a broach or paint a design over the stain with fabric paint.

Coffee & Tea stain  Blot immediately and apply club soda or plain cold water. Pour it on & blot. Follow with carpet spot remover or hydrogen peroxide for 15 min. then blot. Final rinse cold water or club soda.

Shaving cream is a Great spot remover  Makeup, lipstick, coffee, tea; work into spot then rinse with club soda or cold water.

Red wine stain  Pour on white wine or saturate with salt and follow with club soda and carpet spot remover.

Crayon marks on wall Spray with WD40 lubricant & wipe with paper towel. Then with a soft cloth and soapy water solution  wash in circular motion.

Restore wood;   Petroleum jelly rub in with soft cloth.

Non-stick cooking spray will remove grease and paint from your hands so keep a can in the garage for your hubby  you dont want him coming in and messing up your clean sink!

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least 3 hours prior to burning.

To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop or 2 of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan and bring to a boil on the stovetop.

To get rid of itch from mosquito bites  try applying soap on the area and you will experience instant relief.

Rusted baking tin  sprinkle powdered detergent on it and scour with the cut face of a raw potato.

Sweeten fridge  place a dish of ground coffee in the back of fridge or freezer to get rid of old odors, neutralize new ones

Coke removes rust from chrome car bumpers  rub with crinkled up aluminum foil dipped in Coke.

Crisper crispers  Line drawers of fridge with paper towels to absorb moisture, keep fruits and veggies fresher  makes cleanup easier too!

Pam cooking spray dries nails in a jiffy.

Pet hair comes up easier if you spray furniture with static guard before vacuuming.

Spray vinyl floors with glass cleaner before mopping. It loosens dirt and soaks into the grooves, making cleaning easier.

       Makeup Tips

 Use foundation all over your eyelid, powder with a clear dust before eye color application.

Light Shadows bring out deep set eyes.

Apply foundation to lips, line your mouth with a lip pencil and apply powder over foundation to avoid lipstick from feathering. You can also use a blusher as a base. By simply patting your blusher on your lips with the Shading Brush, you give your lipstick more "fade resistance". Also creamy formulas are much won't dry out your lips. Freeze lip liner in the fridge for 15 minutes before you sharpen it.

Always use less mascara on your lower lashes.

Unruly eyebrows will  stay in place if you put clear mascara on them or a little hairspray on the eyebrow groomer and brush to the desired shape.

Wash you face before you exercise, otherwise the pores will get clogged.

Fill in eyebrows using shadow and an eyebrow brush for the most natural look.

An excellent repellent for being in the woods is, believe it or not, Vicks.

Dust small knickknacks with a dryer sheet. It is  designed to help eliminate static cling, it prevents dust from settling. Also good for maintaining TV screens and Venetian blinds.

Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.

Paper cut? Try a little Chap stick.

Dingy sheers .. add a couple of those handy denture cleaners to a tub of water, throw in the sheers, let set overnight, rinse thoroughly in the morning.

.Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers and your clothes will smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels and linen.

To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag and add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt and leave your artificial flowers looking like new! Works like a charm!

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

Got kids at home? Let them finger paint! Give them some plain yogurt and color it with Kool-Aid. It will not  hurt them if they eat it!

Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a lovely light scent in each room when the light is turned on.

Flies or bees bothering you? Spray them with hairspray and they will take a quick dive.

Use empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs to.

Clean bathroom mirrors with shaving cream to keep them from fogging up.

Got scratches on your CD? Rub on a little smooth peanut butter and wipe off with a coffee filter paper.

Potatoes ...If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it is still cooking, drop in a peeled potato. It absorbs the excess salt for an instant fix.

Potato removes food stains from your fingers .. Just slice and rub raw potato on the stains and rinse with water.

To keep potatoes from budding ...place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

Coca-Cola  Cleans toilet bowls... add a can of Coke, wait 1 hour and flush.

Coke loosens grease stains from laundry add a can of Coke and launder as usual.

 

 

 

     

Makeup Tips     

Dampen sponge before applying foundation  For a light sheer look.

If you have sallow skin, (pale, yellowish tones) pick a foundation that disappears on your face. Once a woman is past 40, for example, she may need to choose a foundation with slightly more pink tones than before in order to counteract aging sallow tones in her skin. Unfortunately, most makeup artists and cosmetic companies have an aversion to pink and spend vast amounts of money in publicity ads pushing tawny colored blushers and golden toned foundations. In fact To counteract your skin tone choose a pink or rosy blush.


As you get older your natural color fades. Brighter colors needed!


Don't pump your mascara wand into the mascara container. This pushes air into the container and makes the mascara dry out faster. Gently insert the wand, turn two or three times, then remove and apply to the lashes.
